EMFEC’s role as a source of regional intelligence and representation on behalf of member organisations and colleges is central to our Mission. We take great pride in the trust that those organisations place in us and in our continuing ability to ensure that representation is even-handed, vigorous and evidence based. EMFEC is contracted by the Association of Colleges (AoC) East Midlands, to provide its regional Directorate and facilitation service. EMFEC members are provided with representation and information services relating to learning and skills policy.
The developing role of a Regional Learning and Skills Council (LSC) structure and the more detailed focus on partnerships for the delivery of regional skills priorities highlights the importance of making sure that the “single voice” of colleges is facilitated. EMFEC continues to manage this through ensuring that they are represented on key regional bodies. Equally, we ensure that regional agencies and organisations such as the LSC, the Regional Development Agency (emda), Government Office East Midlands (GOEM), the East Midlands Regional Assembly (EMRA) are provided with a fast and reliable route to high level meetings, consultations and information exchange with colleges and other partners to inform their policy and practice.
