About EMFEC
EMFEC firmly believes that the best and highest quality provision for learners can be more effectively achieved through partnership and the sharing of professional knowledge, experience, intelligence and expertise. EMFEC exists to help its members achieve excellence and in doing so promote their activities to key stakeholders to ensure longer term sustainability.
EMFEC is, above all, an organisation that helps and facilitates the testing of new ideas, quality improvement and the development of teachers, staff and managers in the learning and skills sectors. It represents the interests and view of colleges both regionally and, increasingly, nationally. EMFEC encourages partnership working to make a difference for learners and to exert influence on decision and policy-makers.
EMFEC is uniquely placed to fulfil this role.
- We are an independent and neutral organisation. EMFEC is a registered company, limited by guarantee with charitable status. The Company is owned by its members and professionally managed by its Directors, management team and staff to the benefit of its members and partners.
- We work for, and with, learning and skills professionals. Ours services are developed and delivered with a real understanding of the needs and the issues of the sector.
- We employ experienced and professional staff with direct experience of working in the learning and skills environment – in colleges, schools, awarding bodies, training providers, inspectorates and professional bodies. We are supported by an extensive team of Associates and trainers all of whom are skilled practitioners in their own areas of expertise. Our Associates bring innovation, knowledge, experience and relevance to address our customer needs.
- Our representation and intelligence gathering functions engage us, on behalf of our members, in policy and strategy development both in the East Midlands and nationally. We are in regular contact with key stakeholders and decision makers and maintain an up to date knowledge on current initiatives and thinking.
- We are a business, receiving no direct funding or grants. We understand the constraints that our customers work to and the imperatives that impact on skills development and engagement with the businesses that they and our stakeholders support.
