A twenty year Anglo-French relationship was formally renewed in January at a ceremony in Strasbourg.
EMFEC and the Académie de Strasbourg have worked in partnership for the last twenty years providing staff and student exchanges and work placements to support professional and vocational skills development.
Visiting Strasbourg for the ceremony were Paul Eeles, EMFEC’s Chief Executive and Simon Feneley, Deputy Chief Executive. Meeting with French colleagues, Paul and Simon agreed an action plan to provide further support and development for both French and English institutions over the next three years. Commenting after the meeting, Paul Eeles said that he was "delighted to renew a long-standing and successful partnership between the Académie and EMFEC and to agree a plan that will see the two working together to further the professional and personal skills of both staff and students”.
A formal ceremony to sign the new three year agreement was held in the prestigious Académie building on the Rue de la Toussaint in the heart of Strasbourg. Welcoming Paul and Simon, Armande Le Pellec Muller, Recteur de l’académie de Strasbourg spoke of the many achievements of the partnership and of the special relationship that the Académie has with EMFEC. Responding, Paul said “that this was the first formal activity he had carried out in EMFEC’s Centenary Year and that it was highly appropriate that year had started this way”
Staff and students from French schools and colleges who had taken part in a study visit to colleges in the East Midlands spoke of their enthusiasm for the opportunities that the partnership provided for personal and professional development.
Paul and Simon were presented with a cake created at the Lycée d'Hôtellerie et de Tourisme Alexandre Dumas to celebrate the 20 year partnership at a reception hosted by Madam le Recteur.
Activity agreed by the new three year agreement starts with a ten day study visit by Business Studies and Engineering tutors to EMFEC and West Nottinghamshire College in March.
