As part of its support for WorldSkills London 2011, EMFEC is leading the Have a Go Programme in the East Midlands and is delighted to award KM Training, Derby the first Have a Go (HaG) grant in the region.
HaG is a national campaign to provide one million opportunities for people across the UK to try a new skill. HaG events will give people a "bite size" taster of a new skill, trade or profession and will help ignite their passion to learn and provide the information they need to get on at work or start a new career.
KM Training is a work based training organisation working exclusively with the Kieran Mullin Hairdressing salon group. HaG activities will encourage people to "have a go" at hairdressing and barbering with a focus on Celebrity Make Over! Choosing a picture of a celebrity hairstyle, the person "having a go" will develop the look using a mannequin and basic tools of trade.
Events will take place at Salon Taster Days at KM Training in Derby and at careers fairs taking place in September.
