Leading Inclusion - A Guide to Good Practice in Leadership and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

A highly successful conference was held at EMFEC on 13 April to examine good practice in leadership of equality, diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Attended by nearly 100 delegates from across the Further Education Sector, the Conference heard from keynote speakers from LSIS, Ofsted and the Equality and Human Rights Commission. Delegates also had the opportunity to hear from college and independent training providers about their successes with EDI and to explore how different approaches could benefit their own organisations.

Delegates received a copy of "Leading Inclusion - A Guide to Good Practice in Leadership, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Learning and Skills Sector" which was formally launched by Paul Eeles, Chief Executive, EMFEC and Rob Wye, Chief Executive, LSIS. Sponsored by LSIS, the Guide has been co-produced by EMFEC and the Young Peoples Learning Agency (YPLA) to exemplify best practice and help other providers develop their own EDI approaches.

In his closing remarks to the Conference, Paul Eeles commented "I have been impressed throughout the day by the passion shown by all speakers and delegates and the obvious enthusiasm that they have to ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion is embedded in all that they do". He went on to say "this is an important area of work for all of us and helps to determine who we are and what we do to support our learners and communities and how we do it".

The Leading Inclusion Conference is one of series of continuing professional development events that EMFEC is running. A copy of the Guide can be accessed by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page. Further information on other events taking place at EMFEC can be found by clicking here.
