Background       

Procurement is an area where few colleges have expertise, it is an area which divides opinion; many are fearful of breaking the EU regulations but don’t fully understand what is expected of them. Regional Procurement

EMFEC has appointed a Regional Procurement Manager, Catherine Duro.  This role has been created to provide a procurement service to the region's Colleges. The post is initially funded by the AoC.  Savings generated and member subscriptions will enable the post to become sustainable into the future. The role will support the effective management of procurement and embed good procurement practices into the regions colleges.  Procurement is not only governed by EU regulations but when prioritised and performed well, will deliver real cashable savings and efficiencies across all levels within each college.

Catherine Duro - Regional Procurement Manager

Catherine Duro joined EMFEC in January 2012 as Regional Procurement Manager based at Robins Wood House.  She has 10 years’ experience covering all areas of the supply chain, and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. Catherine has spent the past three years as Procurement Manager at Stephenson College.  The role will not re-invent the wheel, but provide experienced knowledge and expertise to support the efficiency and effectiveness of your organisation’s procurement function, from a local source. Catherine is able to support the whole team involved in procurement and supplier management.
